Apology from Zuckerberg

The creator of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg has apologised to users of the site for mistakes it made when implementing Beacon, its new advertising led application.
More than 50,000 people signed a petition against the company's 'opt in ' policy, which forced the site to change how the feature will share their information.
Mr Zuckerberg, who started the company while still at university, apologised for the company's poor handling of the situation.
"Instead of acting quickly, we took too long to decide on the right solution. I'm not proud of the way we've handled this situation and I know we can do better," he said in an official blog post.
To address the problem the site has now included an 'opt in ' option which allows other websites signed up to Beacon to share details of your purchases with your friends and a privacy control that disables the system completely.
Advertisers are hoping to accurately target members of social networks, but have to accept that members who do not like their methods can use the network against them.
According to Highland Business Research, U.K. social networking site usage is the highest in Europe with 24.9 million unique visitors in August 2007.
