Employers close Facebook

Up to 70 per cent of UK business is banning access to Facebook during working hours, according to research conducted by the Guardian.
The report also revealed that 1,700 people have been fired or disciplined for misuse of either, email or the internet in the last 12 months.
However, social networking sites can also help people find work. They direct advice and recommendations from friends, groups and dedicated recruitment services, and help people research the market.
Business networking strategist Andy Lopata thinks that Facebook is being discussed more as a recruitment tool.
"It breaks down barriers. There have been several studies which suggest that 70 per cent of jobs are filled through personal recommendation. Facebook just facilitates that," she told the paper.
Recruiters can also use social networking sites to look at future employees. Some employers may think that an applicants' ability to network is a positive attribute, however others may be looking for greater confidentiality from new workers.
