Social Media tools are attracting more business visitors to websites, according to new research.

The Pluck Corporation found that page views on some industry business media websites doubled after 90 days, following the introduction of the technology.

Tools such as user comments, blogs, social networking and photo sharing are having a positive effect according to chief executive officer, Dave Panos.

"It's clear that business publishers with the right mix of social media tools for their particular audiences can deliver significant improvements in reader engagement metrics, which is essential in this highly-competitive and evolving market," he said.

The company’s research found that use of tools on some sites had risen by 75 per cent in the last six months. They also observed that some of the highest click through rates (CTRs) were found on sites with syndicated blog content.

Consumers familiar with social networks are used to online interactivity. Broadband allows for advanced Flash animations, video clips and the integration of a range of new tools to help promote a brand and its products.

User interface specialist, Jacob Nielsen, in his online advice page, warned companies about making their marketing too obvious, saying web users "ignore legitimate design elements that look like prevalent forms of advertising".
