Hatebook?

Web 2.0

18 October 2007

If you thought Facebook was too friendly a way to maintain your contacts and share your world then look to Hatebook, a new social networking site.

According to TechCrunch, a weblog which profiles new internet products, the site functions like Facebook and in some areas the creators have included some features not found on the more popular site, such as Google Maps.

However, the German creators have, as the title suggests, given it a darker twist. The site is for members to share all the things that they hate.

Members can upload blackmail material, publish lies, get the latest gossip from enemies or friends, post photos, tag friends and get hate points from disturbing people who live, study and work around them.

Mark Hendrickson, writing on TechCrunch, warned, "don't play around with Hatebook too much if you are concerned about privacy, because all messages are viewable by all other users, and there are no privacy controls".ADNFCR-1093-ID-18322148-ADNFCR
