The Sun records record traffic to website

Sun Online has achieved a record website traffic figure for August, attracting more than ten million unique users, according to official industry figures published today.

Data from Audit Bureau of Circulations Electronic shows that the website had no less than 10,594,198 unique users last month. This represents an increase of more than 36 per cent compared with August 2006.

Telegraph.co.uk also saw significant growth in its traffic, with the number of unique users increasing by 8.65 per cent from July to August. In total the website had 9,770,562 unique users.

Meanwhile, Times Online had a 15 per cent increase in unique users from August 2006.

The Guardian reports that as a holiday month, August is generally quiet for news sites.

Guardian Unlimited had the most unique users, with 15,821,480 users in August, representing a year-on-year increase of 26 per cent - in spite of the fact that it actually experienced a slight fall from the previous month.
