DoubleClick extends internet advertising service

Internet advertising firm DoubleClick has announced that it is expanding its ad services for mobile phones, as it awaits news on whether regulators will approve Google's attempt to buy the company.

DoubleClick's customers will now be able to sell and manage adverts both online and on mobile phones. Its technology allows ads to fit the screen size and capabilities of individual phones.

The online advertising sector is paying increasing attention to delivering adverts to mobile phones, with Google last week launching AdSense for Mobile, which allows mobile web developers to include Google ads on their sites.

Ari Paparo, DoubleClick's vice president of rich media, said: "Publishers are starting to see mobile as an exciting revenue growth area as budgets move from experimental to mainstream. Our clients want to take on this opportunity and sell mobile display advertising directly.

"As media companies begin to offer integrated digital ad packages to advertisers that include online display, rich media, video and mobile, everyone wins. The launch of DoubleClick Mobile marks an important step in bringing mobile into the mainstream digital advertising ecosystem."
