Google is set to announce a pioneering interactive online advertising format that allows marketers to post adverts that take the form of mini-websites.
Called Google Gadget Ads, the aim is to make users spend more time viewing online marketing campaigns.
This new format enables companies to create ads that use video, audio, games and live data feeds. Users can interact with the adverts to choose what they see.
They effectively appear as miniature web pages within the website. People will even be able to save them to their blog.
According to some industry experts this represents a breakthrough in media advertising.
Gadget Ads is very far reaching," Andrew Frank, an online advertising analyst with market research firm Gartner told Reuters.
"This is the platform that Google is going to build all their cross-media advertising services upon," he added.
