EMI has relaunched the website for its Angel Music label, which will take the form of a Web 2.0 social networking site that will enable fans to upload their demos, personalise their profile and interact with other members and music scouts.
Dubbed A&R 2.0, EMI has said that Angel Music's ScoutR website represents the next phase in creating an online community of scouts. A&R, an abbreviation of artists and repertoire, refers to the section of a record label responsible for scouting new acts and developing artists.
Musicians will be able to submit their demo to ScoutR, which will then be rated by members. Those whose demos make it into the top ten will be guaranteed a listen by the label's A&R director.
Every two weeks, a selected track will be featured on the homepage, with the intention of eventually releasing an exceptional track as a one-off single.
In addition, the site also features live events listings, artist videos and info with downloadable wallpapers and screensavers.
Digital media manager of Angel Music, EMI, Mike Dowuona said: "Angelmusicgroup.net aims to build on the traditional label site 'shop window' format by introducing a number of interactive elements providing a destination that allows fans to feedback, influence and experience through the familiar social networking environments."
