Yahoo! has announced a deal that will see it selling display advertising on Web 2.0 social networking site Bebo.

This is the first agreement that internet giant Yahoo! has made with a social networking site.

"This exclusive partnership is the next step of our ongoing strategy to build the largest and most effective online advertising network," said Toby Coppel, managing director of Yahoo! Europe.

Under the agreement, Yahoo! has developed a Bebo toolbar for the site, enabling users to monitor their Bebo profile when they are not on the site.

The Yahoo! Answers service will also be integrated into the Bebo site as part of the collaboration.

According to Yahoo! this move will better allow the company to reach a target market of teenagers and young adults and increase advertising revenue.

"The partnership with Yahoo enables us to focus on custom sponsorship campaigns and groundbreaking original productions with the knowledge that our display advertising is handled by a partner that guarantees the highest quality ad for each user interaction," said Joanna Shields, Bebo's president.
